The Subaru XV 2.0i e-Boxer SE Premium is a stylish compact SUV that blends hybrid power, all-wheel-drive grip, and a high equipment level for comfort, safety, and convenience. It is driven by a 2.0-litre horizontally opposed petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery, allowing for low-speed electric-only driving. The powertrain is coupled to Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT automatic gearbox.

On the outside, it is distinguished by a refreshed look in line with Subaru’s recent updates: a hexagonal grille, LED fog lights with new bezels, gloss-black rear spoiler, ‘e-Boxer’ badging on the wings and tailgate, integrated roof rails, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Rain-sensing wipers and automatic LED headlights add to the premium feel.

Inside the cabin there is a generous level of standard equipment including leather upholstery, an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a four-way manually adjustable front passenger seat, heated front seats, a dual-zone automatic air conditioning system with an anti-dust filter, and an eight-inch colour touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other refinements include aluminium pedals, a leather wrapped steering wheel and gear-shift knob, a TFT driver display, satellite navigation, a reversing camera, and a sunroof.

On the safety front the XV SE Premium e-Boxer comes equipped with Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist suite, which delivers adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking and throttle control, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, as well as lead vehicle start alert. It also features Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection, which includes blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist, and rear cross traffic alert. X-Mode and hill descent control enhance capability in adverse or slippery conditions and the vehicle benefits from full all-wheel drive for traction.

In terms of practicality, passenger space is roomy though boot capacity is reduced compared to non-hybrid models because of the battery under the boot floor. With the rear seats folded, the XV offers a good amount of load space. Ride and handling are well balanced: body roll is controlled, the steering is precise, and the suspension smooths out bumps effectively, making it a comfortable companion both for motorway cruising and town driving.
